I was out of town when the deadline came around for submitting images for the April Salon, so I only competed in the digital competition. (Unlike prints, you can submit digital images without actually being present.)
I was pretty excited about this competition because the theme for the month was Minnesota and Wisconsin Architecture. I like shooting architecture and thought I would have lots of good images. However, I had a surprisingly hard time finding one that was good enough submit. In the end I submitted the following three images and got an 8 on the shot of the Weisman Art Museum Reflected in the University of MN Bridge.
The judge recommended severe cropping on my image of the interior of the chapel at Lakewood Cemetery to eliminate some of the curving lines, but I think it would lose too much. Maybe I just need to go back and reshoot it from a different angle.
The judge didn’t really have any suggestions for this image of the Guthrie, except that it wasn’t really an architecture print and that I should try submitting it again in a different category!
